The day has finally arrived! Months of dedicated, back-breaking labor has gone into this moment – and it’s finally here. The sheep have come! Soon Kiryamo will be caught up in the cycle of feeding and watering, pasturing and shearing; but for today, there’s nothing to do but celebrate. We’re going to let these pictures speak for themselves.

One of the most exciting aspects of the The Sheep Project is the relationship that it has fostered with True Vineyard Ministries, an incredible organization in a sister community that enables widows to provide for their families by crafting beautiful, high quality yarns. The wool gathered from these very sheep will be sold to True Vineyard Ministries, transformed by their skillful hands, and then sold to Kate Spade to be used for high end fashion. Not only will these sheep be generating wealth for the people of Kiryamo, but will continue to support these wonderfully deserving women as they improve their lives.
